Toyminator's Players to Watch
Players who are on the rise, critical to their
team's success, or simply fun to watch
Lamont Barnes, Temple
Great quickness & hops leaves most big men in
the dust. Great defender whose adding more than just a monster
dunk to his offense.
Shane Battier, Duke
Doesn't have to score but will consistently. Offensively,
he's multi-dimensional. Defensively, he's the best in the country.
Jami Bosley, Akron
Short, stocky, physical shooting guard who's difficult
to defend. Great at creating his own shot. Defensively, he's a
floor burn specialist.
Keith Carter, Mississippi
Excellent outside shooter who can get to the basket
as well. Great rebounder. Very impressive in Goodwill Games.
Kevin Clark, Minnesota
Exploded during last season's NIT. Should continue
this season. Not a great shooter, but has good scorer's mentality.
Jaraan Cornell, Purdue
Injury interrupted last season, but healthy now. Good
shooter from everywhere on the court. Will make Boilermaker fans
forget Chad Austin.
Kaspars Kambala, UNLV
Strong, agile big man with soft touch and great hands.
Not flashy but consistent. Should get many double doubles this
season.
Lamar Odom, Rhode Island
If eligible, RI will be trouble in NCAA Tourney. Big
man who handles ball well and can hit the 3. Seems to have matured
through his ordeal.
Scoonie Penn, Ohio State
After sitting out last season, will be eager to start
anew. Already knows O'Brien's system from BC. Great quickness
and leadership.
James Posey, Xavier
Best 6th man should become star this year. Can explode
to the basket, plus his long arms make him difficult to block.
Jason Terry, Arizona
Another super-sub who will lead his team. Incredible
quickness makes him tough to defend, as well as oppose.
Wayne Turner, Kentucky
Two years ago, was a liability. Today, leads the National
Champs. Still not a great shooter, but penetrates well and is
automatic in the paint.
Etan Thomas, Syracuse
Developed immensely last season. Shot blocker who
can also rebound and score down low. Will get a lot of chances
to this season.
