Rabbit Health Page

These are pictures of my first true rabbit love, Tobie, a fantastic female Holland Lop when she was a baby.
Given plenty of fresh food and water along with a clean, cool place to live, rabbits will generally stay healthy and can live for seven to ten years. Not subject to colds and other viral illnesses that dogs or cats frequently get, rabbits can get various bacterial infections from different sources. Those and some other illnesses are explained below in greater detail due to the severity involved when a rabbit does become ill. Contrary to popular belief, rabbits can overcome bacterial infections with proper treatment from a qualified exotic animal veterinarian. In treating a sick rabbit, there is absolutely no substitute for an exotic animal vet. who specializes in the care of rabbits. A general veterinarian is usually not a good choice to put your rabbit's safety in. The House Rabbit Society or Veterinary Centers of America can recommend a vet that will take good care of your rabbit. Veterinary Centers of America can be reached by dialing 1-800-VCA-PETS.
Ask to have someone contact you.
Note:If your rabbit is sick, please don't email me for advice. Call your vet immediately. Rabbits can go downhill very fast, so waste no time.
