4L60E Reaction Shells GM# 8683439
Photos of FIXES of Possible Interest
This reaction shell is one of the ones that is prone to early failure. Notice it is stamped with the beginning letter as a "B". Never use a shell that the first letter is stamped "A" or "B". Also look at the machining difference of the INSIDE of the splined area. It appears to me that the questionable shells are SQUARE cut. B133.jpg

This reaction shell is suppose to be the updated improved shell. Notice it starts with the letter "W", and the INSIDE of the spline area is ROUNDED or tappered. W052.jpg

Now I haven't figured out where this reaction shell fits in. It was purchased by our shop on June 14, 2000. The date code on the box was 1/2000. I am guessing at this time it is the latest designed shell, but I'm not for sure. It starts with the letter "T", and notice that the INSIDE of the spline area is ROUNDED or tapered. T091.jpg

This is an updated Photo that maybe HOPEFULLY puts the "T" reverse drum as a superceeded drum over the "W" style that can apparently strip the splines. Notice the inner splines are missing in the photo of the "W" style drum. 4L60E Reverse Drum W Style.JPG
