- Today is Athena's birthday. I hope everyone

- I experienced a pretty strong quake
here in Southern California (Magnitude 7) Saturday morning. It had
a very strong rolling motion lasting almost a minute where I was.
The damage was relatively minor from the news reports I've seen, with
a train derailment and falling items from shelves. This quake was
the strongest quake since the Landers/Big Bear quakes back in 1992
that I've felt (I was in college when Northridge hit and didn't feel
it). The epicenter/hypocenter was out in the desert so the effect
on populated areas was small. Go here
for a map showing the recent earthquakes in California. It is the
Biggest
Blue Square in the southeastern desert(Mojave) update: color of
the square has changed, just know that it is the biggest square on
the map.
I just noticed from the alt.asian-movies
newsgroup that the Hollywood
Reporter has a little article
on a Michelle Yeoh starring in "Mint Condition". Scroll down the page
and you will see it. It looks like John Woo and Terence Chang will
be producing it. She will play one of two cops "...who
solve an international crime while their incompetent yet telegenic
partners get all the credit."

- There has been quite an uproar with
fans over the news that Ekin Cheng has dumped his girlfriend (Maggie
Siu) for Gigi Leung. From reading Yushy's
forums their fans aren't too happy about this.
I added another song to my Vivian page and put up news about Cass'
Mandarin album coming out at the end of this month. I took down the
useless poll - it will be back up when I can think of something interesting.
I also removed the form for contacting me - I guess it is redundant
when I have the guestbook and email.

- Happy Moon Festival everbody( a little

- Here are two news links that will have
a direct bearing on any visitors from Southeast Asia, and is important
for other people around the world too. They aren't HK entertainment
related, but are much more serious. If you haven't been in hibernation
for the last few months, then you would know the significance of what's
happening in East
Timor. Warning: they are both MSNBC
articles so if you hate Microsoft with a passion then don't bother.
There are plenty of other news sites (CNN,
etc.)that have info on this. The two recent articles are titled:

will be getting married this month to former actress Nina Li Chi.
The wedding will be held at the end of the month in Los Angeles.

- I reorganized this page and it should
look cleaner. How do you like the look?
I removed the My Interest button on the side since it is basically
a repeat of what is on my UltraWeb
page. I also moved the downloads section to a separate page here.
Also, Vivian has now taken the lead in the voting booth. Some fanatics
have placed enough votes to push her into a comfortable lead and it's
not me :). Any Ng Sin Lin or Cass fans out there?

I just read from the Hong
Kong Entertainment in Review that the HKPop discussion forums
at Digitalcreations are up. The new page is called the Hong
Kong Stars Discussion Forums and it is more comprehensive then
before, and because of this I've decided to remove my female and male
HK star forums, since noone goes here anyway RIP. I've also modified
the forum link from upon a Star to Hong Kong Stars Discussion
Forums in my links section.
I've also decided to take my anime page offline since I wasn't putting
any effort into it. It will be up on a different server next month
or whenever I get around to working on it. This will give me some
more room for this site since both sites were sharing the same space.
You can also now vote as much as you'd like in the voting booth up
to 5.

- Wow!!! This is the most response I've
gotten from a poll ever since this site has been created. I guess
you guys have strong opinions on who you think is the best actor in
Hong Kong - either that or this is just another popularity contest.
I'm kind of surprised that Lau Ching Wan didn't get more votes. I
decided to start a thread in my movies
forum for any of you guys who are willing to discuss your opinions
on this poll. I'd also like to thank Dark Father and myke
who have who have discussed their views in my forums. I'm no expert
on HK movies or music, but I created the forums so that I could express
my views and learn and hear other peoples views on Hong Kong Entertainment.
Well I hope you guys aren't annoyed by this short lecture.
I've been busy playing Monster Rancher 2 these last few days and that's
why I haven't updated in a while. Well, I had to remove a few songs
because of space - I forgot how large these realaudio files get. I
will try to alternate songs, so that I can still leave some room for
other content such as pictures, etc.

- Sorry about the poll being late. I also
added a mini jukebox on this page with all the songs in Realaudio
G2 format. There are a few new songs in the jukebox. I'm also working
on putting up a separate music or downloads page so that you can get
all the music info from one place instead of through my separate star
pages (that doesn't mean you shouldn't visit those pages ^_^ ). I
have limited space and so if my music files reach the limit, then
I will try to alternate songs or find some more space. I haven't reached
the limit yet though.

- I added pictures of Ada Choi and Linda
Wong to the image gallery a few days ago. I also added forums for
Christy
Chung, Kelly
Chan, Sammi
Cheng, Faye
Wong and even Leon
Lai. Surprising huh, the eerie absence of men in my alternate
Hong Kong Entertainment reality. This fan page started as a dedication
to the women I love and will generally remain that way. I never planned
to be your best source for news - I barely have any news on this page.
I will try to put any news that is of interest to me and this site
up whenever I can. The best places for Hong Kong Entertainment news
are still the newspapers/magazines/news sites like Apple
Daily, Oriental
Daily, etc. for Chinese readers or sites like the Hong
Kong Movie Database or the Hong
Kong Entertainment in Review for English readers. Check my links
section if you would like to check out some other sites.
Also, next month will be a big month for celebrity birthdays. Anita
(4th), Kelly(13th), and Christy(19th) will have birthdays in September.
I'm sure that there are other stars that have birthdays in September
too, but I can't keep track of all of them. One final thing - I've
gotten a few submissions for increasing the # of votes that can be
cast in the voting booth. I will leave the form there for the next
month and will decide on the matter at the end of the September. I
might even add another voting booth for other stars. Thanks for your

- Thanks for all the visits. Well, if
you have checked my picture gallery recently you'd know that I added
a section of pics on some other stars that I don't have a page on.
I will try to add some more pics to this gallery whenever I can. Also,
one more thing that I haven't talked about but has been in the news
these past 2 weeks- I guess you can't help but feel for the people
of Turkey with the earthquake that happened there. As a person living
in an earthquake prone area(southern California) and one who studied
geology in college - I understand how devastating an earthquake can
be. Even just this week phenomenon such as - Hurricane Brett(which
affected Texas - where I lived for a few years) or the typhoon which
caused the plane accident in Hong Kong - happen. Nature can be a cruel
and powerful force.

- Yesterday was Carman Lee's Birthday.
I hope everyone wished her a Happy Birthday and good luck in her future
movie and tv work. Well I changed the background image. I also added
a picture of Cecilia Cheung and Ultraman right above
this. If you don't know, well then Cecilia released her first single
recently, and the picture above shows her at one of her promotional
events. She was also the leading lady in the movie King
of Comedy which was released earlier this year. Also,
do you see the little form to the upper right? I just want your feedback
on whether I should or should not limit the # of votes to just one.
I'll leave it here for a while and see if anyone really has the need
to vote more than once. I also added some news on Michelle - seems
as though she got injured :-(

- I've been working on overhauling my
ultraweb site this week so that's why I haven't updated recently.
Well I moved my old polls section to a
separate page. I also finally added the Cantonese version of Linda
Wong's song in the downloads section I will
also be altering my sidemenu again(I can't make up my mind??). This
should make the sidemenu load up faster. Contact
me if you have any complaints. It seems somewhat slow to me. I
will also be putting up an old news/archive section pretty soon.

- This is'nt HK related, but is still
interesting. I went to Anime Expo 99 in Anaheim, California this weekend. There
were lots of long lines, but it was still fun nonetheless. The highlight
of my trip was getting an autograph of singer Mari Iijima along with her latest English album titled
No Limit. She was mobbed by autograph seekers at the end of
her concert there. You may know her best from the character Lin
Minmei in the Japanese Anime movie SDF Macross, as well
as anime tv series of the same name. She sang many of the songs in
the movie. The song Do You Remember Love is one of her most famous songs, and it
is a very important part of the movie. The Macross tv series might
be better known to the non-Anime follower as the first third of the
Americanized series Robotech. This series was what sparked
my early interest in Anime (I should probably start working on my
Anime page soon).
Also I checked this page and found a problem with the poll. It might
have been reset somehow. The last time i checked the count was: 1)
- 2 votes, 2) - 1 vote, 3) - no votes, 4) - 1 vote. I will try to
look into this problem. And a few more things, I joined an Asian popstars webring, created a new HK entertainment webboard (Please!! post some messages here - otherwise the
only acknowledgement that this site is somewhat useful is when the
counter/vote/poll is incremented :( ), created a logo and did
a little more fine tuning to the page. My thoughts on webdesign are
constantly evolving ever since my first page (the index or ultraweb
page). I will try to find a right mix for the look as well as the
load times of my pages. Check the Whats New section for more info on the updates.
