Las Vegas and Area 51:
Today is the day we will be arriving at Area 51. We also had two sub-goals, Barringer Meteor Crater and the Hoover Dam. Early that morning we arrived at the crater. It's quite a sight, I must tell you. Unfortunately, you're not allowed to hike down to the bottom anymore, although they do give tours around the rim. Our next stop was the Hoover Dam. You have to admit, the dam is an impressive achievement. We only stopped for a moment though, snapping a few photos here and there. And, of course, we drove across the Dam itself. |

Later that day we drove through sin city itself, Las Vegas. I was surprised to find I didn't care for Vegas much. To get technical, it "gave me bad vibes." Strange indeed. We only stayed in the city for a few minutes before we were off again. |

The sun was setting but we had reached our goal, the Extraterrestrial Highway. The sign is marked with many stickers, and if you look closely, you can see a "Free Kevin" sticker. I drove down the ET highway in high spirits. The sun had set and the mountains looked menacing against the dark sky. Bob noticed that we had passed the infamous black mailbox (it's white now) and I nearly swerved off the road to get a good look at it. That night I dined at the Little A'Le'Inn. |
