[Nels, Sandra, Puc, and Satch]

Puppies

Beautiful, talented red/red merle litter line-bred on Satchmo and Puck, Hangin' Tree Dude grandchildren.

Father:
Luke (Birch Hallow's Quick Draw Dude) is a Dude look-alike as a red merle (c/w) with steady blue eyes, confident manner with both sheep and cattle, primarily a header. As a 2 year old he shows ability to bunch the stock, is easy to push out and holds distance from stock on the fetch. As a family dog Luke has a home-place protectiveness which shows judgment already, putting a 'bark and hold' on a stranger at night who paid no attention to his warning to stay out of the barn until escorted by The Boss. No bite and instant response to my command to leave it and come. If the stranger is escorted by The Boss, Luke is calm, quite and comes to be petted.
Hips OFA good, eyes Cerfed, DNA-vp

Mother:
Melica (Holmberg's Melica Nitens) is a red tri with little white and dark, dark copper. Melica is soft, sweet and friendly to all as a 3 year old and has the best balance on stock of all the dogs, including Satchmo (who is no slouch). She has incredible drive and focus on the sheep, and great speed, but has already learned to work close effectively by 'turning herself down'.
Hips Pennhipped .35/.37, eyes checked ok

Pups:
The litter was born on April 9, 2002 and have been vaccinated and wormed, crate-trained, leash trained, and treated individually to walks on and off leash.

Breeder's Philosophy

I like to keep pups longer than many breeders, because I want to know their personality and temperament to better match them with their future owner. A high-drive, persistent intelligent herding-type dog would only be a nuisance in some households, or one with a strong protective instinct needs to be channeled and appreciated, not feared.

I really want these special pups to have opportunities to herd, do agility, obedience, even conformation, but most of all be someone's best buddy in the best sense of the old time Aussie.

[Bobbie Sox]

Sold Bobbie Sox: Red tri female with white toes, a real pistol as far as bossing the other puppies around, very active and very attentive to a person but already sits to be petted. Will be small and quick.

[Hodge Podge]

SoldHodge-Podge: Red merle with beautiful markings, also good with kids, and responsive to them. Confident in accompanying The Boss from an early age away from the other pups.

[Lola Granola]

Lola-Granola: Red tri female with long white socks. Strong sense of something being out of place, quite and independent.

[Milo]

Milo: Red tri male with calm, confident attitude. Will also be a good sized dog like Dallas, and like Lola, knows when something is not right and alerts. Non-confrontational with other pups in spite of his size advantage.

[Quiche Loraine]

Quiche Lorraine: Red tri female with a very soft sweet manner like her mother and calm like her dad. Pretty face!

[Lola Granola]

Sold Steve Dallas: Red merle (phantom) male, will be the darkest red of the group, and probably good sized as an adult (~22in). Very much a leader and never backs down from a challenge, yet isn't aggressive either. One bright blue eye, one brown. Good with kids and responds to their non-verbal messages.
