More about Zapotec
Weavings - The Zapotec weavers of southern Mexico are
descendants of one of fifteen Pre-Hispanic Indian cultures of
Mexico. They live in the Valley of Oaxaca. The Zapotec Indians were
weavers of cotton for generations before the Spanish brought wool
into the area. The technology used today is identical to that
employed in the 16th century. Zapotec weavings are a continuation of
artisan traditions rather than a revival of a lost art. Variations
in the weave are part of the informality of these folk art
creations.

It is good to realize that if
love and peace can prevail on earth, and if we
can teach our children to honor nature's gifts,
the joys and beauties of the outdoors will be
here forever.
