The American Board of Hospice and Palliative
Medicine (ABHPM) was formed in 1995 to establish and implement standards for the
certification of physicians practicing hospice and palliative medicine. ABHPM
creates and administers the certifying examination, works to implement high
standards for training, and contributes to setting the standards for excellence
in palliative medicine.
American Pain Society - The American
Pain Society is a multidisciplinary organization of basic and clinical
scientists, practicing clinicians, policy analysts, and others. The mission of
the American Pain Society is to advance pain-related research, education,
treatment and professional practice.
Center for Ethics in Health Care -
Oregon Health and Science University's Center for Ethics is a leader in
compassionate care of the dying. Included on their website is the POLST Program
and information on Oregon's Death with Dignity Act (Physician-assisted Suicide).

Care (CAPC) provides health care professionals with the tools, training, and
