28. William Erastus³ Butler (William Andrew², William Andrew¹) was born in Martinsburg Twp., Pike Co., IL March 1, 1837. William died January 17, 1917 at 79 years of age. His body was interred January 10, 1917 in Bismarck, St. Francois Co, MO.

He married twice. He married Mary Elizabeth Cooper in Pittsfield, Pike County, IL, March 13, 1863. Mary was born in Venice, Pike Co., IL January 1839. Mary was the daughter of Asa Douglas Cooper and Eleanor Goodin. Mary died September 11, 1906 at 67 years of age. He married Ardelia Faris in Bismarck, St. Francois Co, MO, March 23, 1910.

William Erastus Butler and Mary Elizabeth Cooper had the following children:

60 i. William A.⁴ Butler was born in Venice, Pike Co., IL 1863.

61 ii. Hattie Butler was born in Milton, Pike County, IL 1865. She married an unknown person.

62 iii. Lewis Butler was born in Venice, Pike Co., IL 1868.

+ 63 iv. Lewis Hardin Butler was born January 1870.

64 v. Della Butler was born in Milton, Pike County, IL September 1873.

65 vi. Abbie Butler was born in Milton, Pike County, IL October 1875.

66 vii. Charles E. Butler was born in Venice, Pike Co., IL February 1879.
