3. John³ Holloway (James², Father of James¹) was born June 6, 1833. John died September 6, 1878 at 45 years of age.

He married Martha Ellen Battershell July 28, 1853. Martha was born June 24, 1836. Martha was the daughter of John Battershell and Nancy Piersall. Martha died April 7, 1913 at 76 years of age.

John Holloway and Martha Ellen Battershell had the following children:

4 i. William D.⁴ Holloway was born in Pearl, Pike County, IL 1866.

+ 5 ii. Charles Jesse Holloway was born April 2, 1872.
