Resolution
35-2004
Edward
Brockman: Another resolution. As
you all know, the question of snowmobile operation on the Outlet
Trail has been talked about for almost a year, maybe longer.
We had a meeting of the Parks & Recreation Committee a week
or so ago, and at that meeting the subject was discussed further
and at that meeting it was determined there ought to be further
investigation by several other committees and the police department.
In this resolution we're indicating that the Planning Board
look at this and make a recommendation back to the board of
trustees, whether or not snowmobile operation should be permitted
on the Outlet Trail, and we're requesting them to do it as expeditiously
as is feasible. Also at the Parks & Recreation Committee,
we requested to formulate proposed regulations pertaining to
operation of snowmobiles on the Outlet Trail and submit them
to the board of trustees as judiciously as possible. And the
appropriate committees of the board of trustees are requested
to examine this issue from an insurance and liability issue
and submit a report as expeditiously as possible. I assume that
would be the Finance Committee. I'm not sure what other committee
would be involved. Recreation is looking at it. Public Safety
would be another one. Also, asking the police department to
submit a report to the village board of trustees regarding the
proposed plan for enforcement of regulations, and the DPW is
requested to consider any perceived impact that the operation
of snowmobiles would have on any village streets, sidewalks,
or bridges and likewise submit a report. And also that the Parks
and Recreation Committee is requested to consider this further
and make a recommendation as to whether the village should amend
the law.
Norm
Koek: I make that a motion.
Willie
Allison: I second.
The
motion was passed unanimously.
