Mama Flora's Family by Alex Haley and David Stevens is culled from Haley's unpublished works, the saga of three generations of a Tennessee sharecropping family headed by Mama Flora.

The Black Family in Slavery and Freedom (1750-1925) by Herbert G. Gutman was recommended by Village Carl Phillips as a good starting point for our History/Genealogy section of the bookstore. We aim to please! This 664-page paperback is an exhaustively researched history of Black families in America from the days of slavery until just after the Civil War.
