Q: I am wondering if your gears pull your 33's real good or are they to low or high?
A: I am very pleased with the 4:56 ratio with the 33' tires. It is slightly lower than the 3:73's with the stock 31" tires. The new rangers with 16" wheels you can get 4:10 ratio from the factory. I still get good gas mileage. I have always stayed within the range that the window sticker states 16 mpg City - 20 mpg Highway.
Q: I was wondering how much room you gained with the cutout flares?
A: I gained 2" front and rear on the rear wheels and 2" at the back of the wheel well on the front. The cut tapers to the top of the standard wheel opening. This was needed to clear the 33x12.50's comfortably with the amount of lift that I have. Spring wrap was the issue for the rear, while turning is the issue for the front. Now BFG makes a 33x10.50 that would probably fit in the factory wheel wells mounted on a 15x7 wheel.
Q: Did you build the front receiver hitch or is it purchased?
A: I custom built the front receiver. It bolts where the bumper brackets bolt to the frame. It is very stout. It was used to pull me out of quicksand that I sunk in down to the axles.
Q: What is a reverse cut Dana 35? What did u do to modify it?
A: The reverse cut Dana 35 is a stock item. It means that the gears are cut so the the pinion runs above the axle centerline for better clearance and driveline angles. Nice of Ford to include that in the original design.
Q: I really like that console u got did u make that?
A: Yes I did. It was a LOT!! of work, but it paid off! I am very happy with the results.
Q: Your prerunner light bar, how far does it stick out from the front of your rig?
A: It sticks out just far enough for the KC lights to clear the grill. I always tuck as tight as I can not to take away from the approach angle.
Q: Did your Ranger come with manual 4WD shift or did you convert it. I searched for about two years trying to find one with manual shift but gave up.
A: This is a stock feature. I am lucky to have it. I looked for a long time before I found one equipped this way too. I had almost given up as well, then it came along.
Q: How did you modify the lift for 4" of lift?
A: the Rancho springs were a little short. I found this out when I took it to the alignment shop. They suggested that I make blocks to place under the coils. They suggested this to maintain the factory U-joint angle rather than using an off-set alignment cam. This is where I achieved more lift. I made the spacers out of 3" aluminum round stock. Th blocks are now as tall as I could make them without running out of bolt for the coil retaining nut. I added some more about a year later to compensate for coil sag. Fourwheeler magazine did a review of the Rancho lift and they claim that it actually lifts the truck about 3.5," This with the blocks under the coils bring it to about 4" total. Most of the lift is in the front and the kit actually does not raise the rear of the truck much. It removes the rake that the truck sits on from the factory.
