Dr. Abe is an outstanding and enthusiastic teacher. He teaches, demonstrates, performs, and involves audiences and workshop participants at elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as at colleges, universities, churches and seminaries throughout the United States, South America, Mexico, and the Philippines. He delights in transforming fourth graders into Chinese dragons, teaching youngsters the magic of song creation, and involving amateurs and professionals alike in the musics of many cultures.
Abraham Cáceres (Dr. Abe) holds a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from Indiana University, was a Fulbright-Hays scholar, and a Fellow of the Ford foundation. He directed the Arts Program of Milwaukee's Next Door Foundation, produced the Music from Around the World concert series featuring traditional cultures for the Milwaukee Public Museum, taught world musics at Indiana University, piano at Syracuse University, and served as music director of Amas Repertory Theatre (New York).
He has served as both Composer in Residence and Artist in Residence. His languages include English, Spanish, French, Nahuatl, basic Chinese, and Braille.
