Clay's racing career began in 1988 at local dirt tracks and progressed to asphalt in 1990. His
asphalt racing accomplishments include over 50 feature wins and many top 5 finishes in the Late Model Stock Division at Peachstate Speedway (Jefferson, GA) and the NASCAR sanctioned Lanier National Speedway (Braselton, GA). Clay has been featured in radio station racing programs, local and area newspapers, and national racing publications. He has also been nominated as Driver of the Week on several occasions.
