Solitude is no stranger to me
But I am never alone.
I may not have you by my side right now
But you are with me.
Absence may be the byword of our lives right now
But we are always with each other.
Our minds, our hearts, our souls
Are filled with the presence of the other.
Moments of the flesh, however beautiful, are fleeting.
What remains behind stays with us forever.
More than just memories,
Etchings within our essences.
The days apart are hard, the nights are even harder.
We have become used to it, but it doesn't make it easier.
There is no pain involved, just a yearning
We know will be satisfied soon.
To love and be loved is what we have given each other
Moments can be stolen away from us
But the truth and realness of our love can not
And will not ever be torn from us.
So let us close our eyes and smile
At the reflection of each other in our minds
When the days and night grow long and lonely
And our beings ache for want of each other.
