Vituscan Missions were started in the 1980s by the Billy Holcomb Chapter of E Clampus Vitus (#1069). ECV is a men's historical group which is dedicated to preserving California and Western history. ECV was a miners fraternal order in the California Gold Rush and was revivified in the 1930s by historians Carl I. Wheat, G. Ezra Dane and Leon Whitsell. Since 1934, members of ECV have erected over 1,300 historical monuments throught the West. Today, with 39 Chapters and several Outposts, ECV remains a growing organization.
The Northern Vituscans are a band of Redshirts from Northern California who started out their Clamper years in Sacramento, but are now spread out in towns like Crescent City, Shingletown and Sacramento. We first saw the light in 1990 when our Wagon Master joined the Vituscan Missionaries from Southern California.
Go ahead and look in on one of our expeditions to parts unknown where you will begin to unravel and learn about the mysteries of the Mojave, Panamint Patti and Seldom Seen Slim, as well as the vast reaches of the Great Basin.
