Bassist Dick Devries is from Cleveland, Ohio. He has been playing bass since age 13. Dick played open mike nights and with the Cleveland-area band "90 West", before forming "The Remainders" in 1998. Dick lists his major influences as Mel Schacher, Geezer Butler, Jim Creeggan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, John Deacon and John Paul Jones. He listens to a wide variety of music, including Matchbox20, Gin Blossoms, Barenaked Ladies, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Lyle Lovett, Black Sabbath, Queen, Led Zeppelin and the Cleveland Orchestra. Dick plays a Tobias Growler bass through an Ampeg SVT-III amp and a 4x10 Ampeg cabinet.
