West Nile Virus Alert Please keep your birds indoors especially in early morning and early evening hours. West Nile virus can kill your birds. IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you know of birds or other animals living in abusive or neglectful situations, please call your local Humane Society or ASPCA. Humane agents are required to investigate every report of cruelty to animals. You can remain annonymous. If the problem exists in a pet store, contact the local Humane Society in your area. If they can't do anything start contacting these agencies: the health department, local law enforcement officials, local magistrates, mayors office of that municipality, borough council members, local chamber of commerce, county officials and anyone else in that municipality that would have power to stop the abuse . Some Humane officers don't want to deal with birds and reptiles so they won't take action so we must stand up for the birds. If all of these fail then contact the local media to bring attention to the matter, write letters to the editors at local newspapers, and contact PETA. In Pittsburgh contact the Western PA Humane Society at 412-321-4625 or Animal Friends at 412-566-2103. |
