PPR's
mission is to educate the public on proper care of pet birds.
These pictures show the most deplorable conditions we have ever
seen in a pet store. This is not how you care for a bird.
If people choose to ignore problems like this then animals will
continue to die. The owner of this store has been
convicted of animal cruelty 3 times and yet he is allowed to
continue abusing the animals in his care. We urge everyone that
cares about the welfare of pet birds to contact your legislator
and ask them to enact laws to protect birds from abuses in homes
and especially in pet stores like this. There are not many
laws that protect birds and most humane agents won't do much
when it comes to birds. There are no laws to protect animals in
pet stores. Pet stores are exempt from most humane laws.
Let's try to change that. In Allegheny County,
PA? Contact your councilman and ask him to enact a law that prohibits
anyone who has been convicted of animal cruelty from owning or operating
a pet store or breeding business.
